Situated along the spectacular Northern California coastline 280 miles north of San Francisco, the City of Eureka is one of California’s best kept secrets. The city is bordered on one side by beautiful and functional Humboldt Bay, and on the other by mountains lush with giant redwoods which offer a reminder of the area’s rich logging heritage.

A variety of cultural opportunities are available in Eureka, including active artisan, arts, and theater groups. Outdoor recreation is abundant with activities such as boating, sport fishing, kayaking, hunting, birding and backpacking all available close by.(source: http://eurekachamber.com/Gallery/)

Eureka has 13 great hotels to serve you. The accomodations at the Best Western Humboldt Bay Inn are superb. The Super 8 Motel in Eureka is also a great choice. Fortuna, just a short distance away, has great lodging as well. The Luxurious Comfort Inn in Arcata has all the amenities of home. Eureka, nestled in the beautiful redwood forest, has an impressive selection of accomodations.

Shrine Drive-Thru Tree
Drive your car through an actual redwood tree or on top of a redwood log! Count the rings of history as you explore the redwood forest. The kids will like our two 2-story tree houses and the children's walk-through stump.
City Of Fortuna
Fortuna California is little known city and an unlikely vacation destination. Perhaps that's why it was selected by National Geographic as one of the top unspoiled beautiful vacation destinations in America. Fortuna is not on the beaten path; in fact, it's off some distance from any of California's interstate highways.
Clarke Historical Museum
In the heart of Old Town Eureka, at the corner of Third and E Streets, the Clarke Historical Museum is the only museum in Humboldt County dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of the entire area. The Museum is located in the former 1912 Bank of Eureka building, itself a landmark and important part of area history. Exhibits show the history of Humboldt County with emphasis on the late 1800's.
Jacoby's Storehouse
While everyone else during Arcata’s Gold Rush boom years built their homes and businesses out of wood, August Jacoby—a prominent merchant—built his new storehouse on the Arcata Plaza out of local brick and stone, with a clay and concrete roof.
